4/5/06 I was able to present the buILder lesson plan today at school to 10th graders in an English class. I presented to three different sections for a 40 minute period. It took me about 35 minutes to get through the whole lesson. It was interesting to me that not many of the students actually read the websites. They were banning DHMO even after the Wikipedia site. I then asked if they knew what DHMO stood for. The first class really paid attention once they realized I had sent them to sites that were not reliable and listened to the PowerPoint presentation on clues they should have found. Each class after that was less responsive to the lesson but I imagine it was because their classmates let the cat out of the bag. But I was amazed at how many students wanted to ban DHMO after going through the exercise. It was an eye opener.
